Supply Chain Collaboration and Visibility Cloud

What is supply chain collaboration?

Supply chain collaboration is a set of business-to-business practices that automate supply chain processes with your trading partners and alert you to exceptions as they occur in the network. Collaboration platforms enable brand owners to plan supply jointly with partners, coordinate execution activities, and measure performance across their trading networks.

How is supply chain collaboration related to supply chain visibility?

Supply chain visibility is the ability to "see" on-hand balances, capacity, shipments, order status, and other key supply chain data in real time, both internally and across trading partners. Greater transparency improves trust in collaborative relationships. It also gives each supply chain participant the information they need to make effective decisions. Companies can leverage Oracle SCM Cloud's comprehensive web services library to get real-time enterprise, operations and market data updates on demand.

How can I enhance operational visibility throughout my supply chain?

Oracle Internet of Things (IoT) Applications capture and interpret sensor data from enterprise assets, production equipment, vehicles, and other devices throughout the supply chain. IoT-triggered business events based upon automated pattern detection and predictive analytics integrate with SCM Cloud's manufacturing, maintenance, and transportation applications to accelerate response to problems and opportunities.

What are some of the challenges companies face in collaborating with their trading partners?

Brand owner supply chains are very diverse and global. They rely heavily on outsourced partners for component supply, product manufacturing, and delivery. Reduced product lifecycles and expanded supply networks increase the importance of end-to-end supply network visibility. Some typical barriers to establishing visibility in the network include:
  • Synchronizing information between trading partners
  • Enabling standards-based, bi-directional message exchange between partners
  • Isolating significant events in the extended supply chain
  • Making decisions that ensure customer delivery dates are not impacted

How does modern technology remove some of these pain points?

Modern, integrated, business-to-business cloud solutions bring trading partners and brand owners together by delivering:
  • Tight integration among supply chain applications
  • Configurable, business-to-business workflow, along with built-in integration to service provider networks
  • Event management that can listen to events in the network and raise alerts
  • Next generation user interfaces for both the brand owners and trading partners that enable the trading partner to contribute in the decision making process

Which collaboration processes does Supply Chain Collaboration Cloud (SCC) support?

SCC supports vendor-managed inventory, multi-tier planning collaboration and contract manufacturing collaboration processes. SCC's messaging foundation also supports order-to-cash and source-to-settle message interchange.

How can suppliers help me maintain my stocks?

Using Oracle Supply Chain Collaboration Cloud's Vendor-Managed Inventory features, suppliers can review recent consumption and current on-hand positions for their items, and then trigger the replenishment orders needed to keep your inventory within prescribed min/max thresholds. You can monitor progress and any exceptions from a unified dashboard.

What mechanisms can trading partners use for collaboration with the enterprise?

Partners have a choice of collaboration methods. They can log in to Supplier Portal to make their changes online, including uploading files containing their VMI replenishment orders, forecast commitments, and production reports. Alternatively, they can exchange OAGIS-standard messages through the Collaboration Messaging Framework, or invoke Supply Chain Collaboration Cloud's public web services. Regardless of which mechanisms partners select, the enterprise users' experience is the same.

What key business values does Supply Chain Collaboration Cloud bring to contract manufacturing execution?

When outsourcing the manufacturing of critical products to a contract manufacturer, you may want to have visibility into the manufacturing progress of your supply and also track the consumption of key components that you have consigned to your contract manufacturer. In this case, Supply Chain Collaboration Cloud enables you to closely collaborate with your contract manufacturer in all stages, from agreeing on how much of their manufacturing capacity they will commit to you, to the execution of manufacturing activities performed on your products.

What is Collaboration Messaging Framework?

Collaboration Messaging Framework is the B2B component of Supply Chain Collaboration Cloud. It provides interoperability with your trading partners by enabling prebuilt B2B messages to be sent and received by Supply Chain Collaboration Cloud and other Oracle SCM Cloud services in an integrated and seamless business process.

What are the key benefits of using Collaboration Messaging Framework?

Collaboration Messaging Framework enhances your business-to-business communications with:
  • Trading Partner configuration and management. Every customer, supplier, or other trading partner exchanging B2B messages must be identified and integrated into your business processes so the system knows who is capable of sending/receiving B2B messages as well as which B2B messages apply for that partner. This capability is core to the design of Collaboration Messaging Framework.
  • Trading Partner Network support. Rather than connect to trading partners individually, you can forward messages to a B2B service provider that serves them. The third party network handles any systems integration, standards translation, or proprietary formats so you don't have to manage them.
  • Centralized and standardized communications. All B2B messages for all trading partners are processed through Collaboration Messaging Framework. Integration to trading partners or B2B service providers is all managed through external web services. Predefined B2B messages are sent or received in a standard, global, cross-industry B2B standard, though you can add custom message formats if you need them.
  • B2B transaction monitoring. Collaboration Messaging Framework includes a complete logging and error/exception management function to both monitor/analyze B2B message processing and research and resolve any errors or exceptions quickly.

Which B2B messaging standards does Collaboration Messaging Framework support?

Collaboration Messaging Framework supports OAGIS 10.1 as its default messaging standard. Support for other B2B standards such as cXML and UBL is also provided for selected use cases. For other messaging standards, users may:
  1. Leverage the user-defined XML format feature to specify the required message maps.
  2. Utilize one of the certified B2B service providers to provide mapping.
  3. Use Oracle PaaS to extend B2B messaging capabilities.
