Will you do a side-by-side comparison of features for Oracle Order Management Cloud and Oracle's other order management solutions (PeopleSoft, Oracle E-Business Suite, and JD Edwards)?

We purposely did not do a side-by-side comparison with our other Order Management solutions because each of Oracle's Order Management solutions has a robust set of order management capabilities that offer different benefits and features. The best way to find the solution that is right for your organization is to contact your Oracle sales representative.

What is coexistence and how does it work?

Coexistence simply means using selected applications from the Oracle Cloud along with core installations of Oracle E-Business Suite, JD Edwards and PeopleSoft. Coexistence allows you to continue to leverage your existing investments of Oracle applications while taking advantage of business benefits of the Oracle Cloud. Two typical coexistence scenarios for manufacturing companies are:
  • Move corporate financials and indirect procurement to the cloud first, then order management, and lastly manufacturing and planning.
  • Migrate one division at a time with the entire Cloud Suite—Financials, Order Management, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Planning—while leaving the rest of the business on the existing ERP.
Contact your Oracle sales representative for more information.

Does coexistence work for third-party systems like SAP?

Yes, coexistence is possible for any core ERP/SCM system, but there is no prebuilt integration available at this time. Oracle has global partners who can perform this work for you. Contact your Oracle sales representative for more information.

Configurator Cloud FAQ

What are the major components of Oracle Configurator Cloud?

The major components of Oracle Configurator Cloud include:
  • A configurator modeling capability that uses constraint-based technology to develop a series of rules and options that define valid configurations for products
  • A configurator runtime that can use these configurator models, or optionally a simpler definition based directly on the product structure, to present a dynamic user interface for the capture of the configuration selections on a quote or order

How is Oracle Configurator Cloud priced?

Oracle Configurator Modeling Cloud is priced based on hosted named users and Oracle Configurator Cloud is priced based on configured order lines.

What are the benefits of using Oracle Configurator Cloud?

Oracle Configurator Cloud is a powerful, guided selling and configuration product that enables flexible modeling of configurable, multi-option, and customizable products and services. Benefits include the ability to:
  • Eliminate order errors and associated cost of order rework
  • Automate the order-to-production process and reduce sales cycle times
  • Match customer requirements to the best possible solution
  • Guide customers to valid product configurations
  • Enable users to quickly create, test, and release configuration models

What are the functional capabilities of Oracle Configurator Cloud?

The functional capabilities of Oracle Configurator Cloud include:
  • Template-driven user interface
  • WYSIWYG user interface editor
  • Transactional attributes to add item characteristics at runtime
  • Intuitive development environment for management of configuration models
  • Model testing, versioning, and release
  • Underlying constraints-based configuration technology

What pre-integrated process flows are supported by Oracle Configurator Cloud?

Oracle Configurator Cloud is pre-integrated with both Oracle Order Management Cloud and Oracle CPQ Cloud to provide a seamless user experience. The Configurator Runtime user interface is invoked directly from the quote or order; the user makes their selections which are verified by the configurator validation services before the details of the configuration are returned back to the order. The user can view configuration details in the quote or order, and can restore the configuration to make changes or revise the quote or order as necessary.

Can I access external data sources in Oracle Configurator Cloud?

If you need to obtain information to support product configuration from an external source, Oracle Configurator Cloud provides administration services to set up external service calls from a configuration extension rule. This allows your product configurator managers to query and retrieve data from external sources and to use the information in the configuration session.

Can I use Oracle Configurator Cloud in third-party quoting and/or order capture applications?

You can take advantage of the power of Configurator Cloud in your third-party quoting and/or order capture application by embedding the Configurator Cloud runtime user interface directly into your applications. This allows you to maintain model configuration continuity across all phases of your quote-to-cash process. These runtime services allow you to start a new configuration runtime session in your order capture application and also retrieve the saved configuration for integration with your third-party applications.

Can I use a third-party configurator in my configure-to-order process?

With Oracle's configure-to-order features, you can streamline configuration management and deploy an efficient build-or-purchase solution to meet customer demand with the shortest possible fulfillment cycle times. Oracle Configurator Cloud can supply all aspects of the configuration rules, user interaction, and order capture, or alternatively it can provide the validations and order line creation for configurations captured via other sources.

Global Order Promising Cloud (GOP) FAQ

When is Global Order Promising Cloud required? Do I need it if I'm just doing available to promise (ATP)?

Global Order Promising Cloud is required whenever your order process requires visibility to available supply, whether unreserved stock on-hand/available to promise (ATP), or more advanced capable-to-promise (CTP) scenarios that allocate future supply or capacity. Global Order Promising Cloud is also required in order to schedule back-to-back or drop ship orders. The only customers who should consider GOP Cloud optional are those who sell information products or services and can rely on fixed lead times for all orders.

How much complexity and longer implementation time does adding Global Order Promising Cloud add?

Adding Global Order Promising Cloud does add some overhead for administration and configuration, but most of its reference data (such as item, item details, warehouses, and customers) are already required for the rest of the order management process. Global Order Promising Cloud adds allocation and promising rules to this foundation.

How can I integrate Global Order Promising Cloud with external systems?

Global Order Promising Cloud provides a complete set of data file loads for external supply sources. That means that you can schedule orders based upon on-hand, production capability and/or purchasing activity that's managed by on-premises ERP solutions such as Oracle JD Edwards or Oracle E-Business Suite. Web services are also available to check availability and promise orders from external ecommerce and order capture systems. Note that you still need to map data from your system to the formats that Global Order Promising Cloud requires.

How secure is my data?

Oracle Cloud keeps your data completely isolated from that of other companies. Oracle Cloud services also offer market-leading security features – including encryption, virus scan and whitelist support. Oracle Cloud data centers offer embassy-grade physical and logical security. The services employ management controls, operational controls, and technical controls and are aligned with the security framework of ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), specifically ISO/IEC 27002:2005, Code of Practice for Information Security Management and ISO/IEC 27001:2005 standards.
