When should my organization start thinking about moving my High Technology or Industrial Manufacturing companies to Oracle Manufacturing Cloud?

Oracle Manufacturing Cloud should be part of the decision-making process in Discrete Industries–High Tech or Industrial Manufacturing, based on your organization's requirement for advanced technology, open standards, an enhanced user interface, and a reduced IT burden. You can move your entire organization to the cloud, or move your plants a division at a time. See Coexistence FAQ below.

Process, semi-conductor and project based industries, should evaluate the current Discrete Manufacturing offering to determine if the functionality available provides a solution for their business requirements.

What new features does Oracle Manufacturing Cloud offer that I don't already have in my current PeopleSoft or Oracle E-Business Suite installation?

There are many ways that Oracle Manufacturing Cloud can deliver additional value to an existing manufacturing installation, for example:

  • Oracle Manufacturing Cloud includes significant functionality enhancements that help you manage manufacturing more intuitively. Enhancements include: dashboards for managing work definition and production process, embedded collaboration capabilities, and data visualization. Oracle Manufacturing Cloud also has a new user experience that is already receiving excellent reviews from customers including a two-click production data entry screen.
  • The combined solution of the Oracle Manufacturing Cloud with the Oracle Order Management Cloud, Planning Cloud and Procurement Cloud, offer additional value, such as planning for drop shipments, streamlined procurement of configured products, and additional flexibility in managing the financial transactions associated with a physical movement of goods.

Does Oracle Manufacturing Cloud offer a simple intuitive interface for users?

Yes. Our Oracle Manufacturing Cloud solutions have been optimized for tablets with the user experience in mind.

What are the key benefits gained by using Oracle Manufacturing Cloud?

Oracle Manufacturing Cloud is intuitive, configurable, adaptable, and built on open standards. The solution is easy to buy, easy to implement, and easy to use. It has been designed to provide your discrete manufacturing operators two-click access to update your work order transactions. In addition, lot and serial numbers can be scanned to eliminate data entry errors and simplify update process.

In addition to optimizing your plan to produce cycle, Oracle Cloud is uniquely positioned to offer you a broad set of end to end solutions for all of your business flows, including order to cash, innovation to commercialization and product to pay that also provide a depth of functionality and capabilities in the Cloud.

What cost methods are supported?

Flexible work order costing is supported by all costing methods (standard, actual, LIFO, FIFO) or even multiple simultaneous costs–one for your official external reporting, and one for your internal management reporting.

Is contract manufacturing supported?

Yes, there is real-time visibility into the production progress that occurs at the contract manufacturer site, and you can also monitor components that an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) supplies at the OEM site.

Are Configured Manufacturing Items supported>

Yes. With Oracle’s configure-to-order features, you can streamline configuration management and deploy an efficient build-or-purchase-to-customer-demand solution with the shortest possible fulfillment cycle times. Capture a configured customer order and automatically create and reserve a work order, purchase order or transfer order, or simply reserve to a matching, on-hand configuration. The system manages changes to supply and demand automatically, and alerts you to exceptions when they occur.

Are bar-coded readers supported out of the box?

Yes. Component and product serial numbers can easily be scanned during the Manufacturing Execution process.

Is embedded manufacturing quality inspection supported?

This is planned for a future release. However, the Oracle Manufacturing Cloud has a flexible operation completion transaction that allows you to capture additional data at the time of completion, if required.

Will you do a side-by-side comparison of features for Oracle Manufacturing Cloud and Oracle's other Manufacturing solutions (PeopleSoft, Oracle E-Business Suite, and JD Edwards)?

We purposely did not do a side-by-side comparison with our other Manufacturing solutions because each of Oracle's Manufacturing solutions has a robust set of Manufacturing features that offers different benefits and features. The best way to find the solution that is right for your organization is to contact your Oracle sales representative.

What is coexistence and how does it work?

Coexistence simply means using selected applications from the Oracle Cloud along with core installations of Oracle E-Business Suite, JD Edwards and PeopleSoft. Coexistence allows you to continue to leverage your existing investments of Oracle E-Business Suite and PeopleSoft while taking advantage of business benefits of the Oracle Cloud. Two typical coexistence scenarios for manufacturing companies are:

  1. Move corporate financials and indirect procurement to the cloud first, then next order management and last manufacturing & planning.
  2. Migrate one division at a time with the entire Cloud Suite - Financials, Order Management, Procurement, Manufacturing & Planning - while leaving the rest of the business on the existing ERP.
Contact your Oracle sales representative for more information.

Does coexistence work for third-party systems like SAP?

Yes. Coexistence is possible for any core ERP /SCM system, but there is no prebuilt integration available at this time. Oracle has global partners who can perform this work for you. Contact your Oracle sales representative for more information.

Will Oracle Global Manufacturing Cloud be offered in only one time zone, or will you have multiple locations for support?

Oracle Manufacturing Cloud is offered globally and supported globally. Oracle Cloud includes Oracle's award-winning Global Customer Support through multiple options, including Click-to-Chat, Community Forums and My Oracle Support.

What reporting or Business Intelligence is available when running Oracle Order Management Cloud?

Additionally, Business Intelligence and Predictive Analytics are woven into the fabric of your business processes so that you can work naturally and intuitively.
